Co-FOUNDER/therapist/dietitian
she/her
I believe that relationships are an essential component on the path to healing, and that the therapeutic relationship can be a meaningful and collaborative place for clients to engage in your own growth. As a member of the LGBTQ community myself, I am passionate about supporting queer and trans folx on your journey to liberation from the wounds and traumatic experiences that are holding you back in life.
I am invested in working collaboratively with you, my client, to help you move toward yourself and deepen your relationship with your own inner wisdom. I am relational and my passion is in working with individuals at the intersections of LGBTQ+ identities and disordered eating, chronic dieting, weight and size oppression, and associated traumas. I utilize Relational Cultural (Feminist) and Queer Theories, EMDR, and body based awareness to help you heal from oppression and develop a more rooted sense of self and intuition. I am passionate about dispelling myths related to diet culture and nutrition, challenging sizeism and healthism, and supporting my clients in dismantling internalized weight stigma, food and body oppression, gender and sexuality oppression, and trauma.
As a white, cis, able bodied, straight sized, lesbian/queer (both identifiers work for me) femme therapist and dietitian, I understand how both privilege and marginalization have impacted my experience and worldview and how these identities might show up in the therapy room. I am committed to my own growth related to continuous work around my own blind spots and privileged identities. My hope in working with you is that I can provide a safe space for self-exploration and healing from the role stigma and systemic oppression have had in your relationship with food and your body. I value the client therapist relationship and hold it as the primary focus as we work together on your journey to liberation!
It is my belief that food nourishes us in many ways and is also meant to be a source of pleasure, connection, cultural engagement, and celebration (among many other things)! I believe that our relationship with food and our bodies is most health promoting when we let go of expectations, labels, and control and begin to learn to relate in a way that honors our innate intuition and cultural heritage.
I love my clients and I also love my down time! Connection is my top value which means time with my loved ones - my family, friends, and my dog Roxy - is always recharging. Other loves of mine include paddle boarding, checking out live music, writing creative non-fiction, and roller skating on the street or at the skate park. My favorite daily ritual is sipping a hot cup of coffee in the peace of the early morning.
